What do you like to do at 3:40 AM???
Last night before I went to bed, I said to myself, “self, it’s the first weekend that we’re techincally all here and settled in, they may try and do a fire drill.” So what do I do: I get my backpack together with everything I’d need to last a few hours outside, and gods forbid, in a real fire.
Water, medication, a book (to survive boredom) my PDA so I can contact people, my cell phone and my keys (which have a wallet attached that contains my 2 forms of ID, cash, charge cards, etc.).
Well, Madam trelawney would have been proud, because at 3:40 AM the entire Ellicot Area Complex (which hapens to contain my quadrangle) was woken up, and subsequently evacuated for a fire alarm.
I, being the smart person on the floor, point out to everyone where our emergency exit was, because unlike them, I already memorized their locations (WHICH EVERYONE SHOULD DO WHEN AT A HOTEL, OR ESLWHERE – KNOW HOW TO GET OUT!!!) and we ran down the stairs and out to “safety.” It was pretty chilly outside, but alas, I had nice and comfy pajamas, and a blanket made of sweatshirt material, so I was okay.
I also managed to lock my door on the way out, which as good too.
Anyways, it was a *fun* night, and I’m a little tired – I can’t pickup my package until 1:00PM ::sigh:: ’tis not fair.
Love,
